Victorian Remodel
66The following property was my seventh project and definitely my biggest undertaking. It was a Victorian Home, used as a rental for years on Hays street, just north of downtown Boise, Idaho. It was 3500 finished square feet, another 400 plus unfinished, and a detached two car garage when completed. It is an one hundred year old Victorian, in the historical district of Boise, that was being used as a triplex for several years when purchased. It had had some rough remodels over the years and needed to be redesigned back into a single family home. This involved removing unnecessary walls, developing the kitchen, and adding a master bedroom (which was not the norm in the early 1900's). The biggest challenge was combining most of an old house, with large parts of new house, to meet seamlessly, and outperform new construction.
Incidentally, I am not an architect.

Wow - you do nice work. You did a really great job of blending the old with the new. Nice hub!
What a great job you have done. I like the fact that you kept that original sink and tub in the bathroom. Fits in with the age of the house and yet the updates make everything so much more liveable. This must be so much fun for you!

Hi Peggy,
Thanks for stopping by. It has been very fun seeing the changes possible. Subcontractors don't always blending the old with the new, but they come around.
